About the Short Hill Historical Society
The Short Hill Historical Society was formed in 1976 as the Hillsboro Community Association. Our non-profit saved the historic Old Stone School from being demolished and kept its doors open for 40 years. Since 2017, we have started expanding our efforts to projects that help us discover, protect, and restore the rich history of the place we call home.
Our current projects include:
- Hosting the History Talks, Trips, and Treasures series
- Restorating the Wright Brothers’ Mothers sign
- Gathering information to establish an online collection of historical information
- Hosting our signature events: the Greens Workshop and the Christmas in Hillsboro Historic Homes Tour
With your support of dues, donations, time, and talent, we will be able to continue these efforts this year and initiate new projects to preserve and share the history of our area. Some projects that we are considering include developing wayside signs that provide historic information, creating historic driving and walking tours, and conducting research that will help protect and share the incredible history of our area. We are grateful for the support you have given us. With your help and generosity, we look forward to adding to our success stories. Please join us today!
